Two new colors, Onyx and Coral Pink, will be released in the US on September 13th. So that means you have about 3 weeks to auction off your boring Polar White DS Lite to some unsuspecting person on ebay.

Also, Nintendo announced the DS Lite's release date and pricing in the states- (which everyone reading this probably already knows now): June 11th, for $129.99, just in white (we're assuming they will roll out additional colors later).

Cabel Sasser on the DS Lite

Do you want to know how Nintendo ships software to your DS? A friend of mine got it straight from Nintendo's mouth: every time you connect to Nintendo wi-fi, your Mario Kart DS or Animal Crossing cart is upgraded to the latest firmware. So enjoy those fat turnip/snaking hacks while you can, they're going to disappear soon.

Bubbles

Far be it from me to be disingenuous. Of course, I am extremely grateful for this temporary overvaluation of exactly the things that I am good at in the world. But if you need evidence that I live in my own bubble, look no further. As Google and Yahoo plummet, I'm most worried about Turnip prices in Animal Crossing. That is the literally the definition of bubble.

Joystiq: Nintendo redesign coming Jan 16th?

I knew it was coming, and I'm all for a redesign, but I didn't think it was coming so SOON! As the first commenter on the Joystiq post said, "Seems cruel to come out with a new design right after Christmas. Think of the children."

So: all you superficial posers who bought PSPs cause they looked better only to discover that there weren't any good games to play yet except Lumines, rejoice! You might be able to get a sexy portable console with fantastic games as soon as next week.

Me, I think I'll be probably be happy with my Hot Rod Red DS for a while longer; it does what I want to do, it looks fine to me and boy is it sturdy! I love that I can toss it into my bag and not have to worry about scratches, or drop it on the floor of the L Train and not worry about my screen shattering. Wouldn't it be nice if DS 2.0 had all the great qualities of 1.0 but thinner and more ergonomical? What are you hoping to find in the new DS?
