The commenters mainly took a shit on the app and the concept. Another photo-sharing app?!!! That’s why they’re commenters and not out there building things.

MG Siegler's post on covering Instagram from it's humble beginnings to it's billion-dollar sale is a fun read, but the above quote really hit home with me. There is nothing happening on the web right now that can't be done better, and like the proverbial mouse trap, a product done right will probably attract attention.
