DDR Mario
At long last DDR is coming to the GameCube! IGN reports in Dance Dance Revolution with Mario:
Very few details about the game have been released, but Nintendo and Konami did announce that it will use a new dance mat controller. In Japan, the mat will be included with the game. The title will also feature a wide assortment of dance-related mini-games. The game will be on display at the World Hobby Fair 2005, which begins in about two weeks. A Japanese release is expected this Summer.
Unfortunately, some skepticism is already rearing its head:
dj: no one wants to dance as mario!
finn: yeah, no shit.
I'm not into DDR, but I guess it's nice to see some more rythm games on the 'Cube.

for now you could just jump on top of your donkey kongas and do the handclaps by tapping your feet together.
They could repackage the whole thing as Lord of the Dance Dance Revolution.

no one wants to dance as mario!
LIES! HATE SPEECH!
...
Well, I would rather dance as Toadette, but Mario will do in the meantime. I'm just really excited! DDR! GC! DDR! GC! Don't harsh my mellow, nerds.

You might not want to dance AS Mario, but would you like to dance WITH him? It's hard to know which is the case with the characters in DDR.

I want to dance *with* Mario *as* Daisy so I can flip my skirt in his face.

well...at least now we can "do the mario"...for those who remember the closing credits to the super mario bros. super show.

I've been waiting for some sort of DDR with nintendo songs for years. I'm very happy with this annoucment.

Yeah! why can't they just make a DDR for nintendo WITHOUT mario? Why can't they just usethe same versions that came out for ps2 and Xbox???
I do NOT want to dance with mario on my screen. I like the normal funky backgrounds and upbeat dance songs that were in DDRMAX! (That's the version I played)
Besides, what kind of music do you expect to be in a MARIO game?
Definately not anything I'm interested in.
ow i wish I just bought a ps2 or xbox.
Maybe i can sell my Gamecube on Ebay... ^_^;;

Is there a DDR game for Nintendo 64 and if so where can I get it?
Posted by: Andrea | January 17, 2005 at 08:13 PM
no...there is'nt...but you can always get a few dollars from it....get the n64 emulator...put the money towards a game cube...and buy a mat.....with the ddr thats already out and the game thats already out..and be happy untill it comes out..maybe in summer or fall..and i personally like the idea to ddr with the original and remixs of the good mario songs...and some anime songs(white reflection, the rising fighting spirit,an such)

I second both sentences! (But spell "announcement" properly!)

If they were to have songs like from Golden Sun or something, then that would be pretty sweet!!

I'm interested in Irene's question about the fluidity between being the performer and the partner. I think that thrill outweighs the musical selections.

F-Zero Music > all.
Oh, and I heard the SMB2 theme remix on one of the videos. It's fast enough to cause injury.

y do does it have to have mario in it? it would be cool if he's on of the guys u can pik to dance in the background. i like the utha versions and i cant emagine my self dancing to mario songs!! i hope it has classic songs fromm da utha ddr's!!

Was hoping theyd just release something like DDR MAX GC .. I mean I am also glad more rythem games are coming to the game cube but why does it have to be mixed w/ Mario and all that? Why can't it just be another normal DDR game like on the PS2 but it's on the GC? It's like they HAVE to nintendo-ize it somehow...I just hope the songs will be DDR-like and not like the REALLY BAD mix of songs they had for Donkey Konga!! I love DDR and Mario, but DDR + mario TOGETHER? I'm definitely gonna wait for the screen shots and review before buying this game.

they have to do something original with the game for it to sell better, otherwise it's just a later version of the same game that a ton of people already have. i've heard that there'll be non-nintendo songs in there too, and chances are that you're going to have a selection of different characters instead of just mario. i like REALLY want this game. REALLY REALLY BAD.

Yeah why has it taken so long for GC to get DDR? It's an outrage! And now it has to be all dorked up with Mario-I love him but I'd rather have the classic DDR look while I play DDR. And I pray that there will be a decent pad available.
Any idea when it comes out in the US?
Thanks!

yea it waz disney characters for the n64 game of DDR

this game is going to b the weirdest videogame fusion ever. im pretty skeptical, and im wondering how on earth someone is going to dance to mario music the same way they do to naoki. ive heard a lot about this game being incredibly easy, too. ddr disney wasnt very good, and when i played it i didnt pick a single disney song (i kept picking lets groove ^^). so i guess konami can make some money this way, but personally i think this is a bigger deal than it needs to be. im sick of ddr home versions and adding a few elements from another well known videogame makes hardly any difference to me.

i have the ddr disney dancing museum for n64

some gamers you are. i bet you're not into the g phoria-the video game awards, you DANCE HATIN' NERDS! besides i bet some of you are fat-well guess what-ddrmax can help you lose those fats and that huge belly!
Posted by: michelle | July 01, 2005 at 02:36 PM
hey i just saw the ddrmax mario mix!
it's kool. it's just like regular ddrmax except they have the character(mario, peach, luigi, etc.) breakdancing and had a remix for each and single song from the nintendo company! ( oh the reason why i think game cube is in 3rd place is because all the video games nintendo sells were for kids only:P)
Posted by: michelle | July 01, 2005 at 02:45 PM
Ok. I'm glad they're making a DDR Mario game. I always thought it would be kind of funny, and maybe worth playing.
But for the love of God, please ALSO release the PSII version?
I think I might have to buy a PSII or PSIII just for DDR. I get get EVERYTHING else between my GC and my PC, but not DDR.

I have been a hardcore DDR freak for about a year now. If you ask me, Nintentdo just thinks they have to be different than everyone else, and won't let loose of the same characters we've seen from the beginning. You can't take a great game like DDR and try to twist it until Nintendo likes it, just so they can be different. Don't get me wrong- I had a gamecube for a while, and I just got tired of not being able to play DDR, just so Nintendo could have that never ending determination to be different. I felt the same way about the "DDR Disney Mix" which released for ps1. They took a great idea, and just made it wrong.

Cool beans. This information is pretty old, they have since released a small video clip for it on nintendo.com, and it looks pretty spiffy! I'll definately get it! I have a game card for EB games which I was saving for Kingdom Hearts, but since that isn't coming out 'til next year, I'll spend it on that grooving Mario dude. I'm a pretty big DDr fan, even though I'm not the best. It will be interesting to try out a different twist of the game, I can't wait, and it comes out this month, WOOT! I hope my dance pad will work, it's straight from Japan...... Oh well, it should. Wow, I got carried away here, I'm really excited. Geez, you should see me, a poker playing, horse back riding, 14-year-old video game-holic get excited, it's interesting! Well, gotta run!

I have the new game its good exept for the really gay mario aspect of it. Its all remixed mario songs (some done good supizingly but most crap).
If they could plz make a real one that isn't for 2yr olds. I did everysingle song in the whole game in 2 months and i never played ddr only on www.flashflashrevolution.com
Not to mention there's a frigin gay story mode to unlock ALL of the songs. Dance your way to fix da hotel, dance your way out of the hole, like wtf. And plus theres so much monloge speech in it it takes 5 mins to go from song to sone.
I wish they would make a real ddr. plus the pad slips all over the place.
All and all good game but better if had harder songs and no frigin story mode and metal pad...and not mario

whats "do the mario"? huh? i dont really remember....
Posted by: link | April 18, 2006 at 07:03 PM
Link, you poor, poor deprived soul.
"The Mario" was a stupid little dance they did over the end credits of the "Super Mario Brothers Super Show". It went to the tune of the classic Super Mario Brothers theme:
Duhduh duh, duh-duh duh!
DO THE MARIO!
Swing your arms from side to side
Come on, it's time to go, do the Mario!
Take one step, and then again
Let's do the Mario, all together now!
Good stuff.
