I was seeing a matinee of the Broadway show Death and the Maiden in 1992. It was a super star-studded show with Glenn Close, Gene Hackmann and Richard Dreyfuss directed by Mike Nichols. Before the show started there was a huge line for the ladies room and my friend Mrs. Wang asked if I would smuggle her into the men's room which had no line. I took her inside and stood look out. Two very New York looking ladies walked over to me and one said, 'Did you just sneak a woman into the men's room?' I was afraid they were going to report me and I started babbling, 'Well the show is about to start and there's the big line and I....' The woman waved her hand to shut me up and said, 'Could you smuggle us in there too?'
The woman was Nora Ephron.
