This week, the Los Angeles Review of Books launched its preview site online (the print version will come after the full site’s launch, expected at the end of this year). Its mission: to challenge the idea that New York City is the one true center of American literary culture.
“It isn’t,” the review’s senior editor, Matthew Specktor, told me. “You think it’s the center of the world when you’re there. When I left New York, I spiraled into this weird feeling. I thought, ‘I don’t live anywhere.’ Then I came out of it.”
This is cool - the LA Review of Books, just launched their brand as a tumblr blog. So far, they have three pretty good posts.
