Hello, TypePad guest author Jake Dobkin on the Gawker redesign:
The Nickster could make like four small changes and this thing would be fine. Here they are.
Revert to a non-framed page — that is, a normal single page with articles on left and menu on the right. The article menu wouldn't scroll separately- you could paginate it if you want to include more articles.
Pick 1-2 left column designs and stick with them - stop changing them every 5 minutes - it's like Sybil is running the design right now!
Fix the comments, which seem oddly unformatted.
Fix the left column single story template, which seems to often break with different sized images and ads.









I really want them to do #1. The separate scrolling thing is driving me batshit crazy. If we were less lazy we could probably build our own altGawker against the hashbanging JSON that's coming out of the site now. (Eh....nah.)
