Overheard this Evening
Everyone has menus, all over the world, so why is menupages exclusive to New York?
Great question, anonymous reader. There's no good answer.

Scaling's not an issue? The focus is New York City and that's already over 6500 menus. The format kinda reminds me of Curbed. Just imagine what a nightmare THAT would be to scale up statewide/nationwide/globally. Okay, not a nightmare, but definitely issues of scaling a website to account for those different levels and having the local resources to have a person on the ground in all those different locations - yeah, I'd say those are pretty good reasons to focus on what you can deliver. At least for the time being ... no?

Why don't they have more cities? Because they do.

That CHANGE CITY link was easy to miss (and it would also help if www.menupages.com redirected to newyork.menupages.com), but yes, they most certainly do have more cities! I just signed up for an account. Even though the confirmation seemed to note that I happened to be browsing in San Francisco when I registered, the account is global and works the same in any city. I Skyped one of my best friends, a fellow foodie who lives in Arizona, just to tell him about it.

I also missed the "change city" link. In fact, I have never seen the start page. When I type in the URL, it takes me straight to NYC menu listings. The option to change cities should be a more prominent, don't you think?
